Reminders: Please submit your participation for attendance via email. This can be a picture of you doing an activity to share with your friends, providing an answer to a question that was in the morning meeting, or just checking in to share something you and your child did. I understand that not everyone’s schedule and availability are the same during these times. Therefore I am asking you to complete this at ANY point during the day or evening. I will mark attendance for the day before I go to bed for the evening. When we come to the rug to begin our day we play the song Rise and Shine by Dr. Jean. The children know this means to clean up what they are doing at the tables and come to the rug. If you want to play the song to begin our learning time you can! Here is a link to the youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY Your child is invited to watch our virtual morning meeting by clicking the following image: What is the weather outside today? Our weather helper always goes to the window to look outside before answering this! We look up in the sky to see what we see - is it cloudy, partially cloudy, sunny, windy, foggy, rainy?
Following circle time we exit to centers where we also run our small group lessons/activities. The following are activities you can try today! Activity #1: Open your journal to the next blank page. Label it with the date and draw a rectangle on it. Have your child turn the rectangle into something and then help your child complete the sentence “I turned my rectangle into..” Activity #2: Put the strips of paper into order from shortest to longest and glue them down. Activity #3: Use the sequencing cards along with the words on the bottom of the set “big, bigger, biggest” “small, medium, large” and have your child put them in order. Talk about the words and what they mean! Activity #4: Color or hole punch the Ns around our letter N sheet. Finger Gym (Fine Motor) Activity: (Extra choice for any point during the week) Use the sponge from the Other section to move water from one bowl to another. How can you do this? Is the sponge heavier when it’s wet or dry? You could even time this to see how fast you can do it or compete with a sibling or grown up! Since this is a compressed sponge you will have to start by putting it in water to help it grow. :) Art Activity: (Extra choice for any point during the week) In the other section of this week is a blank gingerbread man! Get creative and decorate it! Name Activities: Name Mat - Your child can use this opportunity daily to practice writing their name if they are still working on it. They first touch each red dot under the letters at the top and spell their name. They then use their dry erase marker to trace over the yellow name. Then they write their name by putting a letter on each line. Name Cubes - This is a quick way for your child to practice spelling their name. First take the name apart and mix up the cubes. Have them build their name and then spell it for you. Mindfulness Lesson: (Weeklong activity - you could do this each day, or choose one day to do it) Watch This Video for our weekly mindfulness activity. This activity is also located in your folder for the day, along with review from last week’s introduction of mindfulness. https://drive.google.com/file/d/12statF0hGbWLrjcJfjvj83YQAYHHSghW/view?usp=sharing Additional ABC time: Have your child sing the ABCs with you and point along to the letters. Choose uppercase or lowercase, or do both! If you would like to print this board here is a link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qmws55c2_1ecUAz4oBUl6wyXmSWixD-P Religion: We have begun the Advent season! Today your child will be constructing their advent wreath. Use the attached papers and have your child rip small pieces and use their glue stick to glue them down. Each candle on the Advent Wreath has a special name corresponding to a particular week of Advent.
During the first week we light the Prophet’s Candle as we focus on the virtue of hope. This week is a time to acknowledge that Jesus is coming. We should begin preparing our hearts to welcome Him at Christmas.

I understand that not everyone’s schedule and availability are the same during these times. Therefore I am asking you to complete this at ANY point during the day or evening. I will mark attendance for the day before I go to bed for the evening. Now, onto the rest of our day! When we come to the rug to begin our day we play the song Rise and Shine by Dr. Jean. The children know this means to clean up what they are doing at the tables and come to the rug. If you want to play the song to begin our learning time you can! Here is a link to the youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY Your child is invited to watch our virtual morning meeting by clicking the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fwnuQcbMESaKWBmZSyprF_zpTmRhup1J/view What is the weather outside today? Our weather helper always goes to the window to look outside before answering this! We look up in the sky to see what we see - is it cloudy, partially cloudy, sunny, windy, foggy, rainy? We are introducing the letter R today. Please watch our letter R video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5z941Xx2fM Review our shape this week by watching this Square song: https://youtu.be/sBDG297o1jA Following circle time we exit to centers where we also run our small group lessons/activities. The following are activities you can try today! Activity #1: Write the letter R. Please have your child first practice writing the letter R on the letter R sheet that was sent home. Have them start at the dot and follow the numbered arrow to shape the letter. Please have them do all various sizes of the letter to practice and become more familiar with how it is formed. Once they complete this sheet, open up their journal to today’s date. Have them practice writing the R independently in their journal. They do NOT have to write in the lines. They can write larger since this will probably be easier for them. Have them practice both uppercase and then lowercase. Activity #2: The letter R hole punch activity. Please look at the examples of how this sheet can be completed. In class we have been using a hole puncher to strengthen our hand muscles. However, I understand that you may not have one at home so this can also be completed by coloring in the boxes of the letter R. Make sure they are finding both uppercase and lowercase. When they are done, I always let them color the center picture if they want to. Activity #3: Use the craft sticks and play doh to build a bridge! Show them the word “bridge” from our vocabulary strips. They can even practice writing it if they want, or you can discuss what letters you see in the word. Finger Gym (Fine Motor) Activity: (Extra choice for any point during the week) In your OTHER section of this week’s folder find the two lined pages. Have your child use the blank page to try to copy the different line designs from the page that is filled in. This helps build good pencil control and ability to draw in different angles and directions. Art Center Activity: (Extra choice for any point during the week) In your OTHER section of this week’s folder there is a blank tree. Have your child add some colorful leaves to their tree. In class we would have used a q-tip and paint, but you can use what is available to you at your home (crayons, markers, paint/paint brush, watercolor paint, etc) Name Activities: Name Mat - Your child can use this opportunity daily to practice writing their name if they are still working on it. This activity is also located in your folder for the day, along with review from last week’s introduction of mindfulness. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aFwEJXjlW7nZZ3B-9xzl_Ml4rGzbFWsp/view Additional ABC time: Have your child sing the ABCs with you and point along to the letters. Choose uppercase or lowercase, or do both! If you would like to print this board here is a link:
