Mrs. Sommers Pre-K News
What we’ve been up to..
This week we have continued talking about changes in nature. We also talked about the things we love in nature or doing in nature - trees, the ocean, watching the clouds, gardening, hiking, fishing, etc. We talked about ways that we can help take care of earth like recycling and not being wasteful.
We did some fun art projects from painting flowers, to making salt pictures, to making new play dough. We also reviewed our letters, letter sounds, sight words we have learned and writing our names.
On Wednesday we let our last butterfly go with Mrs. Coleman’s class. Thankfully we were able to sneak outside between all the rain and wetness to watch it fly away.
About Next Week / Reminders:
Wednesday, May 26th - Superheroes & Princess/Prince Day - Students will be allowed to come to class dressed as their favorite superhero, prince, or princess! We will have some fun activities planned for our last regular class day! They do NOT have to wear a costume - it could even be their favorite princess/prince or superhero t-shirt. :)
Thursday, May 27th - Pre-K LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. This will be normal school day hours. Unfortunately we will not be able to host our normal Pre-K recognition breakfast with families. However, we will be recording and posting our short program for you to be able to view at home. I will email when this has been posted to our classroom website! For this day we would like to still have our special breakfast for our students. Thank you to those able to sign up to bring a donation! A REMINDER THAT ALL FOOD/MATERIALS MUST BE STORE BOUGHT. There are 14 children and 2 teachers currently enrolled. Please do not send materials before the final day of school. Thank you! :)
For families that utilize before school care. We will be taking an all staff photo at 7:30. Please plan to drop your child off before 7:20 or after 7:45 that day as Miss Aubrey (and any students already here) will be in the gym for this photograph.
This is our last weekly newsletter. Can you believe that?! Thank you so much for all of your help and understanding in this certainly unforgettable year. I know that it would not have been possible without your help! I have been so grateful to spend most of our year together in person (and only those few months virtually). Your children were such a bright spot to a stressful year and I am so happy to have made it through this adventure with them!

Pictures will remain up on our class website through mid to late June before I take things down to prepare for the next school year. :)
